Life Insurance In Plain English (Depreciated Article)

When you were young, “death” was something that happened in a video game – not in real life. And, you always got at least one more shot at beating the level.

But, this is real life. There are no lives. There’s just one life. How you live it is what matters. Now, I realize that life insurance isn’t exactly the most exciting topic for most people.

But, if you’re like most people, you do value integrity and honest. And, life insurance is one of the best ways to keep all of the promises you make in life – even after you die.

At the same time, it’s a confusing subject. So much bad or incomplete information out there.

That’s why I decided to put together this buyer’s guide on what types of insurance are out there, and which ones you should buy. This guide will change and evolve over time as the market changes, so bookmark it and check back every year or so.

OK, here we go.

Term vs Whole Life Insurance: What Your Financial Planner Isn’t Telling You (Case Study)

Ok, let’s go. Savings And Insurance: These Are Your Two Basic Options Most people believe that there are a million different ways to save money and plan for your future. That’s not true. You really only have 2 choices (that matter): You can go it alone or; You can insure your future. “Going it […]

Renting vs Owning A Home (Case Study + Expert Analyses)

A few years ago, I flew down to Florida for Christmas to spend time with family, and we ended up playing that game Taboo. It was boys vs girls. The word was “Nike.” The clue was “Prefontaine.” They guessed correctly. We lost. I was dumbfounded. Right then and there I made a New Year’s […]

The secret lesson of Other People’s Money

If you’ve never seen the movie “Other People’s Money,” starring Danny DeVito, go rent it. Not because it’s one of my favorite movies… …not because it contains one of the funniest lawyer jokes ever told… …but because it’s got some epic business lessons embedded within. The basic premise of the flick is that DeVito plays […]

The “Obvious Adams” Way To Pay Off Your Debts

A few years ago, I read this book called “Obvious Adams.” It’s a business book about this fictional character, Obvious Adams… He’s not sexy. He’s not “cool.” He doesn’t have any “ninja business skills,” but he’s one of the best advertising men in the world simply because he sees the obvious and acts on it. […]

Hunger is good, desperation isn’t

My wife loves me. Do you know how I know my wife loves me? Because… on my berfday, she goes out of her way to get me whatever I want. And, many years ago, I developed a taste for the confectionary… and the best of the best can be had at a little bakery called […]

What Voltron Can Teach You About Financial Planning

Do you remember watching the old Japanese anime cartoon, Voltron? The one where the robot lions got together to form a super robot called Voltron… What a cool show. You remember how every episode they tried to beat the bad guys using the individual lions. What happened? They always failed. Why? Well…because individually those lions […]

The Case Against Index Funds

When I was 18, I used to be a real penny-pincher. This is something I learned from my dad… …I would always shop at Wal-Mart…buy cheap flat-pack furniture. I’m sure you know what I mean. When you a teenager, you can’t afford a lot…and you end up with the quintessential “bachelor pad.” (even my female […]

The Truth About Financial Newsletters

Here’s something most people fight me on: financial and investment newsletters are usually worthless. It’s funny because people fight me tooth and nail on this but won’t ever hand over their spreadsheets so I can do a real IRR calculation for them. No one is selling “secret” tips that will explode your portfolio into a bajillion-jillion dollars […]

Delicate little snowflakes run for the hills

Apparently my email the other day about laziness offended some people to the point that I lost some subscribers… WHAT? Me worried? Not at all True Believer. It’s good for me and even better news for you because it means you understand the value of “sticking with it.” Here’s something I don’t tell a lot […]
