How not to plan for your future

Someone messaged me last week asking me if I could design a custom whole life policy for them.

Conversation went something like this:

“What’s the minimum amount I need to get started?”

End of conversation.

Wrong way to think about saving money (especially through life insurance, but… I totally get where they are coming from. Trying something new and different feels… scary. And when things feel scary and new, you dip your toe in, you don’t dive in head first into the deep end, amirite?

Problem is… Right now, this dude is struggling and looking for a way to make ends meet. At the same time, he sees the writing on the wall. He knows he can’t go on like this forever. He’s uncertain about his future.

Good news is, life insurance solves that problem. It makes the uncertain, certain.

Bad news is… a “minimum” mentality usually results in a failed financial plan.

I ain’t sayin’ ya have to like it. I’m sayin’ that’s the way it be.
